Jacuzzi works with Amy Williams!

Performance  /  02 February 2016

Before Christmas, we were lucky enough to collaborate with former Skeleton racer and Winter Olympics gold medallist, Amy Williams. Not only was Amy able to give us some great insight into the life of a professional sportswoman and how hydrotherapy is a huge part of her muscle recovery, but she also took part in a Jacuzzi photoshoot, a video interview for the Jacuzzi YouTube channel and an exciting Twitter takeover.

Since our time with Amy has now drawn to a close, we wanted to look back at some of the highlights…

Kicking off the activity, Amy visited the flagship Jacuzzi showroom in Leeds to spend a day discussing hot tubs, fitness and health. While there, the former Skeleton champion posed for photos beside (and in!) some of our most popular tubs and The Yorkshire Post even grabbed a chat while she was in the area, resulting in an in-depth feature with Amy that was covered in the paper that weekend and online.

It was fascinating to hear Amy speak about the impact water therapy has on her muscle recovery and how she used to use this method to soothe her muscles whilst training for the Winter Olympics: “I used to fill up baths with ice cubes and cold water and sit in it and freeze…water, whether hot or cold has so many benefits for your muscles, as an athlete or a non athlete,” she told us. “The relaxation you can get from sitting in a Jacuzzi is amazing. You’ve got so many other benefits as well, from mental wellness to de-stressing at the end of a long day.”

Now that Amy has retired from professionally competing, her passion for sport continues but she focuses on recovery and relaxation to care for her body and mind. “These days I prefer to unwind in a Jacuzzi and chill on the sofa with a chocolate brownie!” she admitted.

After the excitement of her shoot, we put the power in Amy’s hands by letting her take over the @JacuzziUK Twitter account for an hour. She used the takeover to answer fan questions on her favourite music for workouts, the best exercise routines and her treat days, while also sharing some key tips on keeping fit in cold temperatures.

During her day in Leeds, Amy also signed a number of photographs, which we will be giving away on social media. Keep following @JaccuzziUK for your chance to get your hands on one!
