In Beaver Creek this week, all eyes will be on the men’s U.S. Ski Team and even though the guys will be without star skier Bode Miller, there are still a number of top athletes taking racing this year.
Ted Ligety and Travis Ganongare the names you are most likely to recognise, while David Chodounksy, Tim Jitloff, Steven Nyman, Marco Sullivan and Andrew Weibrecht are all well known in the A team for their talents on the slopes too.
The rising stars in the B and C teams include: Michael Ankeny, Thomas Biesemeyer, Ryan Cochran-Siegle, Tommy Ford, Jared Goldberg, Nolan Kasper, Kieffer Christianson, Hig Roberts and Wiley Maple
The men’s team has always done well in Beaver Creek, particularly its most famous ski slope, Birds of Prey.
The final part of the slope, known as the Golden Eagle, is used for slalom and giant slalom, while the track as a whole is home for downhill and super-G and is considered one of the most challenging tracks of the entire World Cup.
