Val d’Isère & Alta Badia in a double header of ski world cup races

This weekend saw the ladies arrive in third consecutive race weekend in Val d’Isère spread over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Whilst Alta Badia welcomed the men on Sunday and Monday for two race events.

Val d’Isère

Friday saw the Ladies Alpine combined (with Jacuzzi as the bib sponsor). Lauren Ross (US) won the downhill discipline, but after finishing third Ilka Stuhec (Slovenia) ran the perfect race in the slalom discipline to win the combined event. Michelle Gisin (Switzerland) followed in second and Sofia Goggia (Italy) in third.

On Saturday Ilka Stuhec’s dominance of the weekend continued with a first place in the Ladies Downhill, closely followed by Cornelia Huetter (Austria) and Sofia Goggia (Italy) in second and third respectively. Sunday was the Super G with the Swiss, Lara Gut finishing top of the podium with Tina Weirather (Liechtenstein) second and Italian Elena Curtoni in third.

Alta Badia

Sunday witnessed Marcel Hirscher complete another 2nd win this season (and his 6th podium finish of the season) in the men’s Giant Slalom with Mathieu Faivre (France) and Florian Eisath (Italy) take second and third respectively.

Monday saw the Men compete in the Men’s Parallel Giant Slalom, France’s Cyprien Sarrazin win his first event of the season whilst Carlo Janka (Switzerland) and Kjetil Jansrud (Norway) completed the podium in second and third places.
