What is the best way to recover and heal your muscles after a high intensity workout?
We do a lot of things to recover after high intensity training at Leeds Rhinos, but it comes down to the individual on their preference. Some people like cold baths, some people like hot baths, and they tend to use them after every game. We might do a bit of stretching on the pitch before plunging into a cool bath and a session in a Jacuzzi hot tub, which relaxes muscles and greatly improves performance.
How highly do you rate the hydrotherapy treatment delivered by the Jacuzzi® products?
I’ve seen a few products in my time at Leeds Rhinos, and the Jacuzzi products are the some of the best that I’ve seen. They really pinpoint the muscle areas that you need to work on while you’re in the Jacuzzi. I think having the jets on your muscles whilst you’re stretching in the water is the best recovery you can have.
If you were to recommend an at home treatment for someone who is experiencing muscular aches due to exercise, what would that be?
Jumping straight into your Jacuzzi after exercise is one of the best things that you can do. I believe that if you did a bit of stretching whilst you’re in the hot tub rather than just sitting there, that is probably the way to go, starting at your feet, working up to your head.
